The 2016 GMC Canyon has just earned a big honor from Cars.com. The popular pickup has just been named the “Best Midsize Pickup Truck” in the site’s Midsize Pickup Truck Challenge.
The Canyon is the midsize pickup segment’s only premium truck, which says a lot about why it was the one picked for this tremendous honor.

“Establishing a benchmark for a premium midsize pickup was our goal with the Canyon, and [Cars.com’s] insights affirm our instincts,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president of GMC Sales and Marketing. “The Canyon’s quiet cabin, premium design and materials make it a maneuverable solution for customers who want the capability of a pickup with the modern amenities customers expect from GMC.”

The Canyon faced off against many of today’s most well-liked trucks, including the Chevy Colorado, Honda Ridgeline, Nissan Frontier and Toyota Tacoma. It was put through 18 different challenges to showcase exactly why customers should choose the Canyon the next time they are looking for new trucks in the Lincoln, Nebraska area.
These tests included a 165-mile fuel-economy test drive, several acceleration and braking tests, and even an off-road assessment that tested how the trucks did while traveling in the wild.
“The Canyon is an all-around great truck,” said Patrick Olsen, Cars.com editor-in-chief. “It is well-balanced and confident both on paved streets and off-road. It’s a well-appointed truck on the interior and has some serious ability when it comes to payload and towing as well as overall engine performance.”
