One of the more popular features on the market is the remote start, which GMC has been using in their line of vehicles for some time now. Remote start is offered in many different GMC models and can provide you with a quick and convenient way to start your vehicle remotely.
What is GMC Remote Start?
Remote start is a feature that allows you to use your keyfob or smartphone to start your car remotely. Either a keyfob with an installed remote or a smartphone with the appropriate app can be used to activate your GMC vehicle’s radio-controlled device to start your vehicle’s engine.
How to Use GMC Remote Start
Depending on the vehicle’s year and trim level, there are two different methods for using the GMC remote start feature. The first way involves using a keyfob that is equipped with a remote start remote transmitter. To use this keyfob to start your vehicle remotely, hold the keyfob in your hand, and aim it directly at your GMC vehicle. Press and release the Lock button once and then press and hold down the remote start button for a minimum of two seconds. The turn signals will activate briefly, and the car will start up right after. If this is done successfully, the parking lights will be on, and the car doors should be locked.
Remote starting your GMC vehicle will leave the vehicle running for about ten minutes, after which the vehicle will turn off automatically. If you wish, you may extend your car’s running time by another ten minutes by repeating the previously mentioned process if you wish to turn off the remote start, press and hold down the remote start button for two or more seconds. After your vehicle has been remotely started, you may insert your key into the ignition and turn it to the run position. You will then be able to drive your GMC vehicle.
Using a Smartphone
The second approach to using the GMC remote start feature is by using an app. Typically, newer GMC models will offer smartphone capability for remote start. To start your car using your phone, you will need to download the Onstar or myGMC app. Then, you will be able to start your vehicle by bringing up one of these apps on your phone. Because this method involves using satellites rather than radio waves, this method provides you the ability to start your car from anywhere around the world remotely.
