GMC’s midsize SUV, the Acadia, is back with a round of refreshments for the new model year! Shedding over 700 pounds and 7.2 inches in length, the 2017 GMC Acadia is more lightweight and fuel-efficient than ever before. The refined SUV also receives updated styling, new powertrain options and a new adventure-friendly model.
New Powertrains
The new base engine for the 2017 Acadia is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that makes 194 horsepower and 190 pound-feet of torque. This is the best option for those looking for a comfortable amount of power to haul around the kids and their gear. It’s also the most fuel efficient, with an EPA-estimated 23 mpg combined on both FWD and AWD models.
The 2017 Acadia also features a new 3.6-liter V6, which offers more power and fuel efficiency from last year’s V6. The new V6 generates 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque, which is a 22 horsepower increase. Designed with innovative technology like automatic cylinder deactivation, fuel economy also climbs to a steady 21 mpg combined on FWD models, and 20 mpg combined on AWD models.

Refreshed Styling
The new Acadia is smaller and lighter this model year, which greatly improves on the SUV’s overall drivability and handling. However, these aren’t the only updates you’ll notice from first glance. The Acadia’s exterior is also noticeably sleeker, showing off a new grille design, updated headlights and taillights, and a more sculpted body.
Inside the cabin, the Acadia continues to make good use of space. There’s seating for seven as well as 12.8 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row. A revised trim lineup consisting of four main trims—SL, SLE, SLT and Denali—offers a variety of creature comforts and improved tech features. Starting on the new base trim, SL, the SUV is equipped with a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, comfy cloth seating, tri-zone automatic climate control, built-in WiFI, Bluetooth phone and audio streaming and a 7-inch IntelliLink infotainment platform with smartphone integration.

New All Terrain Model
The new Acadia All Terrain can handle the rockier side of your daily adventures. All Terrain models are equipped with a V6 engine and more advanced AWD system with twin-clutch. Additional trail-ready features include a drive mode selector, active noise cancellation and model-exclusive upholstery. All Terrain models also remove the third row, adding under-floor storage bins and increased space for gear.
