If the battery in your GMC key fob dies, you'll be happy to know that replacing it is a very simple matter. The entire process takes about five minutes and won't cost you more than a few dollars.
Before you start, make sure that you have the right battery on hand. GMC key fobs usually run on CR2032 batteries, which are flat button batteries that are about the size of a nickel.
Once you have the right battery, use a flathead screwdriver to open the casing on the key fob where the battery is stored. Pry the dead battery away, and replace it with your new battery with the positive side facing the key fob's back cover. Align the two housing halves of the fob again and snap the unit together.
If your key fob is in good shape, replacing the battery should be all you need to do to get it working again. If you replace the battery and it still isn't working, there may be other issues at play with the fob or the electronics in your vehicle. If you suspect that this is the case, contact our dealership. We can look over your key fob and your vehicle to determine if anything else needs to be fixed, whether that involves programming a new fob or repairing the electronics in your vehicle.
