Federal EV Tax Credit

What Should GMC Buyers in Lincoln Know About EV Tax Credits and Incentives?

Federal EV incentives are shifting. The Clean Vehicle Credit, offering up to $7,500, is scheduled to end on September 30, 2025, unless renewed. A separate credit for home charger installation ends on June 30, 2026. If you’re considering a GMC EV, the time to act is now.

How Much Could You Receive—and Who’s Eligible?

The credit is divided into two portions:

  • $3,750 if the EV meets mineral sourcing requirements
  • $3,750 if battery components are U.S.-compliant

Not all vehicles qualify for the full amount. Some are eligible for a reduced credit, depending on how and where they’re built.

What Does a GMC EV Need to Qualify?

To be eligible for the credit, your GMC EV must:

  • Be brand new at the time of purchase
  • Include a battery of at least 7 kWh
  • Be assembled in North America
  • Be made by a qualified manufacturer
  • Be priced under $80,000 MSRP for SUVs, trucks, and vans, or $55,000 for cars
  • Have the sale reported to the IRS
  • Fall within income limits set by the IRS

When Do These Incentives Expire?

  • The Clean Vehicle Credit ends September 30, 2025
  • The home EV charger credit ends June 30, 2026

There’s no guarantee they’ll be extended. Planning your purchase now can help ensure you benefit while the programs are still active.
