Specs at a Glance
The GMC Sierra has long been one of the toughest, hardest working vehicles in its class, and the 2022 Sierra 1500 models promise to continue this tradition. Still, it might be challenging to decide which Sierra 1500 is right for you with eight different trim packages to choose from. To make things a bit easier, we're going to compare the Sierra 1500 SLE and Elevation models side by side so you can see the similarities and differences.
Performance
There is really nothing to separate the two models in terms of performance, as both are built on the same platform and come with the same standard and available engine options. Both models come standard with an eight-speed automatic transmission and 2.7-liter Turbo engine capable of delivering 310 horsepower. The engine also provides an impressive 420 lb.-ft. of torque, which is 20 percent more than GMC's previous 2.7L Turbo engine.
Drivers looking for added horsepower may want to consider upgrading to the 355-horsepower, 5.3-liter V8 engine. If improved towing capacity is what you're looking for, you'll want to check out the available 3.0-liter Duramax Turbo Diesel, which provides a best-in-class 4WD diesel towing capacity of 13,000 lbs.
Appearance
Style and appearance are one area where you'll immediately notice some differences between the two models. The Sierra 1500 Elevation's unique 20-inch wheels, monochromatic color scheme, and gloss black grille certainly catch the eye. The Elevation Crew Cab also has a slightly roomier interior, which provides best-in-class front headroom and legroom. Drivers looking for an added touch of luxury can also upgrade to the Elevation Premium Package, which features leather-appointed, heated front bucket seats.
Features
Both models come standard with the same 13.4-inch center touch-screen and 12.3-inch Driver Information Center. Drivers also gain the added safety of the GMC Pro Safety suite of advanced driver-assistance and collision-avoidance technologies. Drivers looking for even more functionality should also check out the optional 15-inch Head-Up display that directly projects road information and warnings onto the windshield. For added convenience and capability, the Sierra SLE also comes standard the world's first Six-Function MultiPro tailgate, which is also available on most other Sierra 1500 trim packages.
With so many standard and available features and such outstanding power and performance, there is no doubt that the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 will impress even the most discerning driver. Still, the SLE and Elevation packages are just the tip of the iceberg, and you'll definitely want to look into the other trim packages as well.
