2023 GMC Terrain SLE vs 2023 GMC Terrain SLT

The 2023 GMC Terrain is a small SUV with multiple choices of trim. Two of those trims - the SLE and SLT - come with a standard 1.5L turbocharged engine rated at 175 horsepower and 203 lb-ft of torque and a 9-speed automatic transmission. It's an amazing start for both of these models, and it's kind of GMC to give buyers at both price ranges a powerful engine. However, the two differ in other areas of performance, appearance, and design.

Performance

Wheel size plays a big part in a model's stance and performance. Here, the SLE and SLT part ways and offer two different wheel designs. The GMC SLE comes with 17" silver painted aluminum wheels, and the SLT comes with larger 18" silver painted aluminum wheels and all-season blackwall tires. Models drive very differently depending on tire size. Be sure to test drive both of these to compare ride styles.

Appearance

Both the Terrain SLE and SLT feature muscular designs in the GMC tradition. However, the SLT adds features like fog lamps and a hands-free power programmable liftgate to the exterior design. If you dread struggling with a tailgate after a big shopping trip, the SLT's liftgate is worth the upgrade. The SLT also adds standard roof-mounted side rails and heated power outside mirrors with integrated turn signal indicators.

Features

The SLE and SLT have different interior and safety features. The SLT gets a 110-volt power outlet, an 8" diagonal touchscreen system, and an 8-way power driver's seat standard. These features are available on the SLE, but you've got to add them to your overall design. Both get robust safety features, such as Hill Descent Control, StabiliTrak electronic stability control, and Teen Driver. The SLT adds a standard HD rear vision camera to its safety lineup. Other features like front and rear park assist aren't available on the SLE, but you can get those features added to your SLT. Both of these models are wonderful and a great buy for families, but if you're a little more demanding about your standard features, the SLT is more than worth checking out and comparing against the Terrain SLE.
