Specs at a Glance
The GMC Yukon is a strong and capable three-row SUV. The Yukon is a top choice for those who want a spacious and comfortable SUV that is also powerful and upscale. The Yukon lineup offers multiple salient options, including the nicely equipped Elevation, which serves as the base trim, and the Denali, which adds more amenities and features a distinct exterior appearance. Here's how the two compare across key categories.
Performance
The standard engine with the Elevation trim is a 5.3L V8. This engine generates 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. Rear-wheel drive is standard with the base model, along with an automatic 10-speed transmission. The Denali has a larger 6.2L V8 engine that produces up to 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. For either trim, you have the option of getting a turbo diesel engine capable of 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque.
Appearance
The Elevation trim starts with 20-inch wheels and a power liftgate. Several additional appearance features are available with packages, including black roof rails, splash guards, and a panoramic sunroof. You can also opt for a safety package that includes automatic high-beam lights as an addition to the Elevation's exterior.
The Denali also features 20-inch wheels, but a polished finish distinguishes them. The Denali also has trim-specific interior and exterior accents for a unique look. A panoramic sunroof is also an available add-on feature for the Yukon Denali, along with power-retractable steps that are offered as part of an off-road package.
Features
The Elevation offers numerous amenities and conveniences, including heated seats in the first two rows, a heated steering wheel, and power-folding third-row seats. All three rows feature a USB charging port, and you'll also get wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. In the front is a 16.8-inch infotainment display screen and a separate digital driver display. This trim also includes wireless phone charging and a Bose sound system.
The Denali comes with additional upgrades, including leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, and a power-sliding center console. Those seeking further upgrades can opt for additional add-on features, including premium leather seats, massaging front seats, a rear entertainment system, and an 18-speaker sound system.
For safety, the Elevation includes adaptive cruise control, rear automatic braking, a panoramic camera system, collision mitigation, and parking assist. A trailer technology package is available for the Denali, making towing safer. You can also add Super Cruise driver-assist technology.
