What's New For the 2019 GMC Canyon?

The 2019 GMC Canyon comes outfitted with a number of upgrades from its previous model. The Canyon now features all-new infotainment systems with an intuitive, personalized interface. There are a number of available features including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, an available navigation system, voice recognition, an app catalog, and a 4G LTE hotspot. The software updates automatically rather than requiring a visit to the dealership.

A new HD rear backup camera replaces the previous camera, a standard feature of all models except the base trim. Also available this year is rear parking assistance technology. For the Denali, SLT, All Terrain, and SLE models, a new hands-free microphone is added to make speech recognition better. These trims also feature a six-way adjustable driver's seat. The SLE model also has new 17-inch wheels.

Wireless charging has an expanded availability this year. In addition, the steering wheel is heated. New exterior color options include Sedona Metallic, Blue Emerald Metallic, Smokey Quartz Metallic, and Dark Sky Metallic.

What are the Trims & Features for 2019?

There are 6 available trims for the 2019 Canyon: the base Canyon, SL, SLE, SLT, All Terrain, and Denali. The Denali trim is the most luxurious and boasts several features not included on the other trims. It has a unique chrome grille and stunning 20-inch wheels made from aluminum. The leather-appointed seats have a unique heating and ventilation system. You also get special aesthetic trim. For the Denali, a spray-on bedliner is standardized; this feature is an available option for other models.

For the SLE model, the available All Terrain package equips your Canyon for superior offroading performance. It includes an automatically locking rear differential and an off-road suspension. For All Terrain models, the All Terrain X package includes upgraded tires, the spray-on bedliner, floor liners for all weather, and a hill descent control feature. The All Terrain and SLT vehicles both have standardized heated front seats. For the Denali, SLT, and All Terrain models, remote start is a standardized feature. It's an available option for the SLE.

The Denali, SLT, All Terrain, and SLE all have four standardized USB ports. One is found on the dashboard, two on the center console rear, and one in the center console. For the Denali and SLT, you have standardized wireless charging capabilities.

What are the Engine Choices on the 2019 GMC Canyon?

2019 GMC CanyonThere are a number of different engine options available. The 4-cylinder 2.5-liter engine provides 200 horsepower and 191 lb-ft of torque. The 3.6-liter V6 engine has a whopping 308 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. Finally, the turbocharged 2.8-liter diesel engine gives you 186 horsepower with 369 lb-ft of torque.

Available for the 2.5-liter engine is a 6-speed manual transmission. The 2.5-liter and 2.8-liter engines can also have a six-speed automatic transmission. For the 3.6-liter engine, the only available transmission option is an eight-speed automatic. The EPA fuel economy rating varies depending on whether your transmission is manual or automatic.

Canyon Safety Technology Features

2019 GMC CanyonThe Canyon comes with a number of different safety features. There are six standard airbags to protect you in the event of a collision. All models come with an electronic stability control system that also helps with controlling trailer sway. Hill-start assistance is another standard feature, as is a rear backup camera. For the Denali and SLT, rear parking assistance is a standardized feature. This option is an available feature for the All Terrain and SLE. For the Denali, two more standardized features are a lane departure warning system and a forward collision alert system. These are available to add to the SLT and SLE as well.
