The popular GMC Sierra sees some significant changes in 2020. Many people will be excited to learn that there is now a new 3.0L turbocharged diesel engine option. This engine produces 277-horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque and is sure to be a hit with diesel fans. Also new for this year is the ability to combine the 5.3L V8 with the ten-speed automatic transmission. Drivers now have access to some new safety features as well. Adaptive Cruise Control is added to the SLT, AT4, and Denali trim levels of the Sierra. You have your choice from six different trim levels when it comes to the new Sierra. They are the base, SLE, Elevation, SLT, AT4, and Denali. Both lighting and storage features have been designed in a way to be practical. The SLT trim level adds heat to the seats. This engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Also available is a 5.3L V8 that will give you 355-horsepower as well as 383 lb-ft of torque. Models with 2WD get the same eight-speed transmission, while the 4WD models with this engine go up to the ten-speed automatic. Certain trims are eligible to upgrade to a 6.2L V8. This will generate 420-horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. This engine always gets this ten-speed. Finally, drivers have the option of going with the previously mentioned diesel. This is also paired with the ten-speed automatic transmission.
Drivers have a variety of advanced safety options they can add to their 2020 Sierra, depending on the model they choose. Available options include Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Change Alert featuring Side Blind Zone Alert, Front Pedestrian Braking, Forward Collision Warning, and Front and Rear Park Assist. Standard on this vehicle is Teen Driver, a program that allows you to customize certain settings for secondary drivers. The system is also able to give you a report card on how your teenager is driving when you are not around.
